The new bike

After 2 years of trying to save for a bike, I finally did it! Nichole got an email from a cycling store advertising sweet deals on year end clearance bikes, and it was too tempting for me.  So, this past Tuesday night I went in to take a look.  I was so excited because it had all the components I wanted within the price range I needed.  I got a Fuji SL-1 LE Pro. I bought it the last day of July, so it was definitely Christmas in July for me

Day 1 with the new bike...wreck #1 with the new bike...really!! I was riding on the west side of Utah Lake where the road had no shoulder.  I was getting used to the components on the new bike and not paying real close attention when I swerved into the gravel off the shoulder.  When I tried to get back on the asphalt, the front wheel got tweeked on the edge and flipped me over...rookie mistake!.  I landed on my head (thank goodness for the helmet) and rolled on my back.  My shoulder got a good gash down to the bone and a little road rash to go along with it along the other side of my back, and also on both my arms and right leg.  Wow, I feel like an idiot

  1. Sorry to hear about the crash. Glad to see you made it out OK. I came upon the blog as a result of looking for info on the FUJI SL-1 LE.

Like you, I found a FUJI SL-1 LE, full-carbon, Ultegra bike deal that was too good to pass up and ordered it on a hope and a prayer. I am supposed to pick it up tomorrow. I saw the pic of yours and it looked a little different (below is the link to mine). I was wondering how you liked the bike pre-crash.

I am coming from a 2001 aluminum Schwinn with Tiagra shifters and rear derailluer and a 105 front derailluer. From what I've been told I should expect to see night and day differences in the two.

So what say you about your new ride?
