Leg injury...23 stitches

On August 20th, the first day of school and just 2 days before Jake's 16th birthday, I had a knee injury at work.  I had my silver Dodge Ram 5500 truck loaded with scaffold frames and boards.  The scaffold frames were strapped down, but I unstrapped them.  I turned around to unload the boards.  I was unloading the boards with my back turned to the frames when all of a sudden, the frames fell.  They pushed me from behind over the back end of the truck which caused me to do a face plant to the ground.  However, my leg got caught on the back end of the truck.  It caused a compression tear in my leg.  Although the pictures look a little gruesome, I was blessed to not break any bones or tear my tendons or ligaments!! Apparently, no permanent damage would be a result of this injury for which I would be extremely grateful.  I was blessed to have a crew working at the Fenton job this day which came to my aid.  They pulled all of the stuff off me and waited for Ethan to get to the job.  They then carried me over to the van that Ethan was driving.  My immediate thought and reaction was that I was now unable to participate in any of my upcoming big events of the year.  I had two marathons and the full Ironman coming up.  I got so upset realizing I would now be unable to participate.  While at the hospital, I had sent Nichole a different picture.  She didn't think the injury was going to be that bad, because the picture I sent to her was of a different angle which minimized the look of the injury.  Upon arriving, she couldn't believe how bad it actually was.  So, she took some pictures which are posted here below. Unfortunately, she also posted these pictures on facebook.  So, then everyone around us saw the injury and knew about my ordeal.  I got a lot of well wishes from neighbors and friends for which I was grateful.  I got 23 stitches...5 internal and 18 exterior.  The funniest reaction I got was probably from Don, my twinner.  He said, "hey, when I saw your pictures, I was shocked to see that your legs were hairy and not shaved".  I told him I don't shave.  I "groom".  I just think that we groom/cut our hair on our heads, why not groom the hair on the rest of our body.
